HAMPSHIRE SHAKESPEARE YOUNG COMPANY AUDITIONS

This summer, the Hampshire Shakespeare Young Company will perform As You Like It, directed by Chris Rohmann. This program is open for ages 12-17, with limited half week openings available for children 9-11.

Auditions will be held at The Hartsbrook School in Hadley on Saturday April 12, 1-5 pm; and Sunday April 13, 1-5 pm.

Chosen participants will take part in a week-long intensive workshop beginning July 28, and culminating in public performances of the play Friday through Sunday, August 1-3.

Some actors cast in leading roles work with an acting coach during the rehearsal process for the main stage production of As You Like It, as well as take minor but fun roles in the adult show. Main stage show dates are July 16-27 (Wednesday through Sunday.)

Tuition cost is $175 (for families enrolling 2 or more children the cost is $150 each.)

Chris Rohmann in As Schools Match Wits

Chris Rohmann, director of both versions of As You Like It, has worked with Hampshire Shakespeare Company since 2005. He previously directed A Midsummer Night’s Dream and Macbeth, and appeared in our original productions of Burning Words and The Hunting of the Snark.  He also teaches and directs at the Pioneer Valley Performing Arts Charter High School and elsewhere.  He is the theater critic for the Valley Advocate and WFCR Public Radio, host of the TV quiz show As Schools Match Wits, seen on WGBY Channel 57, and Grants Coordinator for New WORLD Theater, the multicultural theater company at the UMass Fine Arts Center.

 

Hampshire Shakespeare Company is a community-based organization with part-time seasonal professional staff. The company brings together professional, amateur and student performers, offering audiences and actors a range of theatrical experiences from the most profound to the most playful. Our summer performances are held on the campus of The Hartsbrook School on an open-air stage with a majestic view of the Holyoke Range.
