Hampshire Shakespeare Company is a 501(c)-(3) corporation founded in 1989.
Its mission is to make accessible to audiences
and actors a range of theatrical experiences from the most profound to the most playful.
The Company brings together professional, amateur and student actors in five broad areas:
- Presenting the works of Shakespeare
- Developing and presenting new plays by regional playwrights
- Presenting theatrical events to new audiences in non-traditional locations
- Enriching private and public school programs with customized theatrical performances
- Providing training and opportunities for personal growth for actors of all ages through
workshops and other events

HSC Production History
The Company is a community-based organization with part-time
seasonal professional staff, artistic associates and an elected board of
directors. It has two divisions:
- The Mainstage Division produces plays, play readings and
other theatrical events. It is governed by Hampshire Shakespeare Company's Artistic
Associates.
- The Educational Division develops workshops and classes for
actors and other members of the community. It is directed by Christine Stevens.
